who

My name is Ozy and I am Promesa Coffee. I am a coffee enthusiast, turned into coffee roaster. This is more of a hobby than a business. I operate out of my house as a Cottage Food Operator. At this point I know I'm not getting rich by roasting coffee. I like roasting coffee and will share it to those willing to purchase from me.

How

The process of roasting coffee was fascinating to me from my first attempt. I started roasting on a basic popcorn popper. That's right, the same ol' little popcorn popper you might have used in the 90's or early 2000's to make popcorn at home. And just seeing how good coffee could be from that little machine was exciting. Shortly after I upgraded to an actual coffee roaster, although it was basically a fancy popcorn popper. And the coffee was even better with that.

So then I upgraded to an even better machine, Aillio Bullet, that gave me more control, and also more sensors so I can understand what was happening even better. At that point I was roasting larger batches, but they were more for enjoyment rather than drinking. Well that led to an abundance of coffee in my kitchen, more than my wife and I could drink. So why not start selling it.

Why

We want to share great specialty coffee with all. We want to have people experience the same journey that we have. We want to teach people the same lessons and knowledge we've learned. We try to find smaller lots and provide great coffee at a reasonable price. And in the end, we just want to help you promise yourself better coffee.
